Title and order

Title:
When considering our working title 'the clique of love', we decided that we needed to change it as it was originally writ as a joke between the cast and the title didn't really relate to our piece. We came up with many titles however we witled it down to 3. The first was 'something about a gang' which related to the theme of mafia and it was quite vage about what the piece was about like our performance is quite vage. The second was 'crimes of feeling' which related to the idea that the men all go to prison for have love in some why or form. The third was 'have you been uptown' which related to the original stimulus that inspired our whole devising piece. After considering the titles we kind of came to the conclusion of 'something about a gang' however Logan suggested that we could call the piece 'insert title here'. This was relevant as it shows how our devising piece is all about interpretation of a stimulus and so it could be seen in a different way to the audience. Mike then thought we could ask the audience at the end to name the performance due to what they think it is about. So we decided to use this one as our title as it leaves them considering what our performance is about.

Scene ordering:
Our scene order is as follows
1. Fireflies - the game of tag
2. Slip - james and yazmin's duet with Logan
3. Cat house - five chair dance scene
4. Infinity - club scene of cat and mouse with forced entertainment movement
5. Duets - Pau and Chloe, me and Rhys, Becca and Mike, Chloe and Logan
6. Hang on - clock work fight scene to James
7. Battle cry - three dance/fights duets
8. Benny hill - comedic chance scene into capture
9. Court room scene - men are sentenced and go into the audience

Problem:
We also had other scene called forced comadia when we all portrayed comadia characters like zanni's and harlequins but we were all being killed of in a forced entertainment way. This scene was created before we created the theme of our performance so it doesn't fit with the performance. We did try to link it through love and people being killed for love however it still didn't link and we didn't have time for it in our performance as it has to 30 minutes long.

 Solution:
So as a solution we had to cut it out even though we all loved the scene and it linked to one of our favourite styles of physical theatre.

Vocal excersies

Here is my structure plan in which I will do to strengthen my voice.

1. First I will do some stretches by reaching for the sky and using alternate hands to do so. This move will start to open up the intercostal muscles in my rib cage. The intercostal muscles support our lungs and diaphragm so that we can talk and breath correctly. I will also do some neck stretches by looking up to the ceiling and down to the floor. This will stretch my neck muscles and help to start warm up my voice box.

2. Next I am going to tap at my chest, nose and head resonators so that they start to open up. As I do this I will make a low, Nasal and high noise so that it truly stimulates these individual areas.

3A. Then I am going to start humming in a very low register. This will hopefully in time help me from talking so high when I am on stage. Using lower tones in these exercises will hopefully stay in my muscle memory so that the next time I go on stage I should sound lower.
B. I have also found relaxing the body does help me to lower my voice as I am not as nervous when I speak so I have purchased some incense sticks that I can use on show days in order to calm me down. I could do this on the morning of the show so I am already relaxed before I even arrive for the performance.

4A. I would next try some controlled breathing exercises. I would start of by breathing in for 2 beats, holding for 2 and letting out for 2. Then would try breathing in, holding and breathing out for 5 and then 8 and finally 10. Each time I would make sure that I fill up my lungs till their full and then release every breath completely. I hope this will help me with breathing as I often run out of breath when I speak for long periods of time.
B. I also could go through some of my scripts, texts or monologues and try taking a pause to breath after every punctuation mark. I know this exercises would take a long time to do but it hopefully will get stuck in my muscle memory and I will eventually remember to breath when I am talking for a long time.

5. Finally I would repeat the tongue twister "red lolly, yellow lolly" and "red lorry, yellow lorry". I would do this because I always find this specific tongue twister difficult and it will also help me with diction for on the stage.

Devising test performance

Today we performed all of our performance so far to an audience of first And second year students from our course. The performance was not completely finished and so our main reason for performing was to get some constructive critasizum so that we could improve our performance ready for the actual show.

Areas of improvement:
Some of the comments from the audience said that it was a very physical piece however we could improve on control of our body as we weren't all insinc in slow motion moments or in some of our coupled scenes. We also could work on facial expressions as there was some people who fully committed facially but at other points people were concerntrating so hard that we forgot to add emotion. Also they said that we weren't all in the same energy state so some people looked as if they were putting in more effort then others. We also could improve on the way we walked in the Madonna scene as we just normally. For example we could walk so far and then take two steps back or create boundaries for how people are allowed to walk in order to show some variation.

My comments:
Personally I think our performance went quite well however I do think we need to take more control in our movements so that the performance looks more refined. I also noticed that we all need to know exactly which side we enter and exit in each scene as in our performance there was some people who had to move around on the stage more then they should. I also think that we need to know what sound and lighting cues will be needed so that our get in will be easier and we can have more time to work on our movements then the tech stuff.
